Six die, 27 go missing in floods and landslides across country
KATHMANDU: Six people have died from floods and landslides caused by incessant rains across the country.
According to the National Emergency Operation Center under the Home Ministry, two people have died in the floods and landslides of Sindhupalchowk, and one each in Kaski, Palpa, Bajura and Doti.
Similarly, 27 people have gone missing and 11 others sustained injuries, said the Home Ministry.
According to the Ministry, 13 districts – Sindhupalchowk, Gorkha, Manang, Pyuthan, Palpa, Syangja, Lamjung, Arghakhanchi, Kaski, Jumla, Jajarkot, Doti and Bajura have been hit by the floods and landslides.
In the flood and landslides that occurred in Melamchi on Tuesday night, two bodies have been recovered and 16 have gone missing.
Sixteen houses, two motor bridges and six suspension bridges have been badly damaged. One person has died and the other has gone missing in Bajura floods. Two houses have been badly damaged in Bajura. Similarly, one person has gone missing in the flood of Gorkha and four houses have been swept away.
Likewise, 53 houses have been swept away in Manang 26 have been damaged, said the Ministry.
Similarly, one has died from the incessant rains in Palpa and the other one was critically injured in Syangja.
Ten houses have been swept away in Lamjung and 39 houses have sustained critical injuries. One has lost his life in the flood in Doti.
Seven people have gone missing in floods induced by monsoon and in Jajarkot and one has gone missing in Arghakhanchi and 12 houses have been swept away in Arghakhanchi.
